How to - Increase RAM size for VirtualBox VM

When I brought in linux kernel sources and started compiling the kernel in my ubuntu VM, I was running out of RAM!!

In my last post, I provided the steps for creating a Ubuntu 13.10 VM in VirtualBox 4.3.6. Here, I will provide the steps I followed to increase RAM size of an existing VM.

  • I powered off the VM. RAM size increase is not allowed while the VM is still running.

  • I selected my VM & clicked on "Settings" in VirtualBox top menu:

  • Next, click "System" in top menu and then configure the new RAM size for the VM:

        Then, cliked "OK".

Hope this helps.
